Wedding at The Cypress House in New Columbia, PA
Their story:
How we met: We were introduced to each other during a night out with mutual friends back in June 2011. The night started out fairly typical to any other but as it progressed we found ourselves talking, laughing and flirting much more than what was expected. Neither of us left that night realizing we just met our soulmate but we did know we met someone special and we wanted to know more about that person. As the summer went on we found ourselves spending more and more time with each other. After a few months of dating we decided to make it "official". Our relationship has evolved so much these last 9 years and continues to do so each day.
The proposal: We had plans to go to a party at a cabin with friends but first would meet at White Deer Elementary in New Columbia so we could all drive together, I would later learn none of this was happening and was just part of Timβs elaborate plan. We were the first to arrive at the school. We sat in the car for a bit but since we brought our dogs along, we decided to take them out to help pass the time. As we were heading back to the car Tim pointed out a garden near by and asked if I wanted to check it out, I refused since I was becoming impatient and was ready to leave. I later found out he was trying to get me in a better setting for the proposal. He proceeded to ask me if my Nana had grown up here, I was certain I told him that several times before but replied that she did and pointed towards her childhood home. He smirks and goes on to tell me that my Pappy told him an interesting story recently. I looked at him confused thinking, when did you talk to my Pappy and about what? Numerous thoughts are going through my mind as Tim goes on to tell me this story of how my grandparents got engaged. The story went, one night in the spring of 1950 as he was walking her back to her house he mentioned that they should go take a walk to the Fred Reedie Farm, she agreed, while on the way back he had decided it would be the perfect time to ask her marry him. Their marriage would go on to last over 66 wonderful years. At this point Iβm in complete shock listening to this story that even I had never heard before. Tim continues to say he knows how much I look up to my grandparents and their marriage and wants me to get engaged near where my Nana did. All this had started to make me cry and it was at this point he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. While a complete blubbering mess, I of course said yes! He then handed me the letter my Pappy wrote to him telling how and when he decided to propose to my Nana. Until writing that letter he had never told anyone that story.
Venue: Came across The Cypress House while searching for venues in the area. Loved seeing the pictures online of it and the fact that it was in New Columbia. Fell in love with this venue after visiting in person.. New Columbia is where my grandparents grew up and my father. My fathers childhood home (my grandfather/his father built) is right down the road from the venue. New Columbia is where my grandparents got engaged and now us.
